Abstract

Abstract. The aim of our study was to highlight the role of national and patriotic education of students at higher medical educational institutions in the paradigm of modernchallenges and generalize the experience of organizing and conducting national and patriotic activities with the purpose of forming a patriotically conscious citizen.

The article substantiates the aim, major tasks and principles of implementing the national and patriotic education of students at higher medical educational institutions in the realities of wartime. The authors disclose and summarize their experience of organizing and conducting events of a national and patriotic direction at the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology with the aim of forming a patriotically conscious citizen in the academic and educational setting of Poltava State Medical University. Among the implemented forms of national and patriotic education, priority is given to meetings, round table discussions, photo presentations, flash mobs, commemorative actions, volunteer movements and others. Considerable attention is paid by the academic staff of the department to the implementation of the tasks of the National Program of Patriotic Education of Children and Youth of Ukraine, to the development of their vital and active position as citizens of their state.

Thus, the characterized forms and methods of innovative educational activities of the Department of Microbiology, Virology and Immunology contribute to the improvement of the process of national and patriotic education of student youth in the paradigm of modern challenges. The implementation of the main principles and tasks of national and patriotic education is carried out according to generally accepted scientific and pedagogical ideas through the effective development of a deep understanding of the history of the Ukrainian people, national identity, singularity, readiness to fulfill the civic and constitutional duty to protect the national interests of the independence of Ukraine. The subject-subject interaction is the main aspect of the effective formation of national consciousness and patriotism in students at higher medical educational institutions.
