Abstract

Abstract. The results of scientific research by foreign scientists who study the issue of values in environment of higher education has been analysed in the article. It is about scientific conclusions that are relevant for using in the educational process in Ukrainian universities.

The author has identified several main trends in the study of the problem of values in the context of foreign scientific thought: justification of the joint responsibility of educational institutions, the church, non-governmental organizations and other social institutions for the forming of moral values of the youth; promotion of various forms of social activity as a manifestation of the applied nature of the value system in the context of modern foreign pedagogy and education; increasing the number of interdisciplinary studies in which the problem of interdependence of physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being of a person is represented as an integrated basic value in the conditions of the challenges of the third millennium.

It was established that the results of research by foreign scientists confirm the relationship between teachers' perception of multicultural competence and the level of forming of the democratic values of the teachers.

Researchers’ conclusions that cultural values can act as a powerful factor in the internal motivation of student youth to study have been analyzed and summarized. Especially when foreign students study at the university, and this determines the necessity to organize the educational process taking into account cultural differences and values. This approach will not only contribute to increasing of the level of students' motivation for educational activities, but will also ensure intercultural cooperation in the environment of a higher education institution.

It is concluded that, in order to effectively realize the individual values of students, it is necessary to establish systematic cooperation of the leading subjects, that have the greatest influence on the educational process. In particular, the country's government can positively influence the culture of educational institutions by creating and developing a vision, which involves orientation of the administration, teachers and students to the maximum expectations, and high standards are a component of the university's value system.
