Abstract. А comprehensive study of the problem of forming medical students› skills in writing a clinical diagnosis is considered in this paper. It is noted that the modern stage of development of the methodology of teaching Latin language and medical terminology to students of higher medical educational institutions is characterized by a high level of requirements for the professional orientation of the educational process. It is emphasized that the formulation of the diagnosis, the standardization of its writing in Latin is an urgent problem in the professional activity of a modern doctor. It is emphasized that the diagnosis can be conditionally divided into two parts: main and additional. In the course of the research, the structure of the first part of the complex diagnosis was characterized, and each of its three sections was analyzed. Clinical expressions used in formulating diagnoses are proposed.
It is emphasized that the biggest obstacle on the way to active mastery of medical terminology is mechanical and passive memorization of terms. It is proposed to use methods of activity that contribute to the activation of the student’s cognitive activity in the process of learning new lexical and grammatical material necessary for the formation of the skills of writing a diagnosis in Latin.
