PREPARATION OF FOREIGN STUDENTS FOR PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION
(ON THE EXAMPLE OF COMMUNICATION OF OBSTETRICS-GYNECOLOGIST WITH PATIENT)

The article presents a methodical instruction of a lesson on the elective discipline “Professional medical communication in Ukrainian of a doctor with a patient” for teachers of the faculty of foreign students of medical institutions of higher education. Four stages of practical training are considered in detail, the main purpose of which is: mastering lexical units to denote female genitals, gynecological diseases and features of obstetrics and gynecology; improving the ability to build monologue and dialogic expressions that contain a description of the characteristics of the reasons for visiting a gynecologist, symptoms and diseases of the female reproductive system, using the studied lexical units and phrases; development of skills in collecting medical history; improving grammatical skills in using adjectives and matching them with nouns. All tasks of the topic are designed to form students’ communicative competence in the study of the subject, meet the basic requirements for such materials, designed to develop and improve the main types of speech activity: speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Training exercises for mastering lexical material, the ability to form a monologue, a doctor’s dialogue with a patient on a proposed topic, repetition of grammatical material will ensure the realization of communicative needs of foreign students so that in the future they can become practical users of Ukrainian in situations outside of classes.
Working with the text is an important stage not only in the study of lexical material, improving reading skills: correct pronunciation, stressing words, repetition of grammatical material, but aims to develop professional knowledge, acquaint students with professional topics.
For better perception and understanding of the material during the lesson, students are offered various types of activities using technical teaching aids and handouts to engage visual (drawings, videos, diagrams), auditory (teacher’s explanation) and mechanical memory (students’ written work in notebooks and blackboard).
All materials of the lesson are designed to form Ukrainian-language communicative and professional competence, quality learning and active use of communicative professional constructions in professional communication.
The topic “Professional communication of an obstetrician-gynecologist with a patient” corresponds to the program of the elective course “Professional medical communication in Ukrainian of a doctor with a patient” for students majoring in 222 “Medicine”.
