In the conditions of an increasing number of foreign students in the higher education establishments of Ukraine, the specialists in the Ukrainian as a foreign language face the problem of developing new approaches to its teaching. In terms of communicative approach, the purpose of such classes is free communication in a foreign language environment. Linguodidactic factors determine the lecturer choice of teaching methods and tools. The article offers a tested lesson on the subject “Ukrainian as a foreign language” on the example of the topic «In the city. Lesson 1». Urban concepts, the concept of place (locus) and location are the determinants for the lexical-semantic system of classes. The lexical content of the lesson is revealed through the concluded text “In the city” and a set of grammar exercises subordinated to the main topic. The text is ahead of students understanding and contains those grammatical categories that are the subject of the lesson. The tables reveal such grammatical categories as the locative case of the noun and the coordination of the noun with the adjective. The ability to use the locative case in speech is very important immersing into a foreign language environment. This grammatical category is considered in comparison with the nominative case, which facilitates its study and understanding. The formation of qualitative-defining adverbs from adjectives is also considered. Using tables allows you to visualize grammatical material, structure it, and also promotes better memorization. Training exercises are offered in order to distinguish these parts of speech and the use of adjectives and adverbs in a sentence and their compatibility with different parts of speech as well. The task is arranged in the following way: to study the new material and revise the previous one, such as coordination of the adjective with the noun. The practical result is the usage of the studied lexical and grammatical material in everyday communication.
