Abstract

The article explores the possibility of using mobile applications to improve the teaching of medical informatics to dentists-interns. The traditional internship program implements two main areas: explore the functional characteristics of office applications and exploring opportunities programs for statistical processing of medical data. Usually the emphasis is on the study of statistical programs that are of interest only to interns who plan their future activities in science. At the same time, there are many mobile applications that can be useful for the doctor. This paper proposed mobile applications divided into two groups: general and special content. Among the most useful general content applications are marked: “3D Internal Organs of Anatomy 1.9.8”, “Medical Terminologies”, “Epocrates”, “MBK-10”, “Read by QxMD” and “MedAssist”. At the same time, it is emphasized specialization of future doctors should be taken into account when teaching medical informatics in the internship. For this reason, for dentists, the most useful may be, for example, such as “Dental Patient Education”, “Cone Beam CT”, “Smile Designer Pro”, “Dentist +” or “SimplyCeph”. An analysis of the capabilities of each application is provided. The prospect of further research is to identify the pedagogical effectiveness of using smart technologies to shape the professional competence of dentists.
