The aim of the work – to analyze the results of implementing the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) in order to evaluate the level of knowledge and practical skills of the internship doctors of Academic-and-Research Institute of Postgraduate Education (ARIPE) when taking the final academic assessment.
The main body. In the IFNMU, the pilot project of implementing the OSCE was conducted for internship doctors in the following specialties: “Obstetrics & Gynecology”, “Pediatrics”, “Ophthalmology”, “Surgery”, “Emergency Medicine (EM)”, “Radiology”, “Neurology”, “Infectious diseases”, “Psychiatry”, “Phthisiology and Pulmonology”, “Dermatovenereology”. The analysis of the obtained results allowed us to determine the advantages of the OSCE over the traditional examinations, including accuracy of the mark, reliability and flexibility. Meanwhile, it is necessary to pay attention to the whole range of the problematic issues which appear when implementing the OSCE, in particular: unprepared standardized patients, lack of experience of the examiners and the exam organizers, need for improving the material and methodical basis.
Conclusions. The pilot project on the introduction of OSCE in the IFNMU indicates the effectiveness of the exam and the need to disseminate such approaches to the final certification of graduates of the University, taking into account international experience.
