Attention Authors! Articles published in our journal are assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) – a universal digital object identifier of the CrossRef bibliographic reference system. Currently, 5,000 publishers from all over the world are members of CrossRef. Its citation database covers more than 75 million journal articles and other types of scientific publications. The presence of a DOI identifier in an article makes it possible to quickly find it on the Internet (for citation) without the need for a long search on journal websites. Assigning DOI to scientific articles allows increasing the citation index and the rating of their authors. The presence of a DOI index in each article and in each issue of the journal, in particular, contributes to the promotion of the publication to international scientometric databases.

Author information should be submitted in two languages: Ukrainian and English. It must contain the following information: surname, first name, patronymic, academic degree, academic title, position, place of work (name of the institution, department). Review mandatory requirements: email address of each author and ORCID – a registry of unique identifiers for scientists and researchers, authors of scientific works, and scientific organizations, which ensures effective communication between scientists and the results of their research activities, while solving the problem of obtaining complete and reliable information about the scientist in scientific communication. You can get an ORCID by registering.

Publication of articles is fee-based and is determined by the number of characters, figures, and charts after peer review and acceptance of the manuscript for printing. The cost may vary from 2000 to 5000 UAH. DOI assignment is included in the cost of the article. The exact amount of payment and bank details will be sent by e-mail after the review of the work. The payment receipt must be sent to the above-mentioned email address of the editorial office.

Article Review Procedure

  1. The Editorial Board registers the article provided it meets the requirements published in the journal and posted on the website.

  2. A registered article is subject to mandatory peer review. The decision regarding publication is made by the Editorial Board based on the results of the article review within 14 to 60 days. The Editorial Board does not undertake the obligation to explain the reasons for the refusal to publish an article. Materials sent to the Editorial Board are not returned to the authors. Manuscripts must present materials that have not been previously published and have not been submitted to other publications.

  3. The Editor-in-Chief determines the scientific value of the work and appoints two reviewers – independent specialists whose scientific specialization is closest to the topic of the work. Reviewers are, as a rule, leading scientists in the fields of pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, medicine, etc.

  4. The review period is two weeks. Depending on the situation and at the reviewer's request, the review period may be extended.

  5. To ensure the most complete and objective response to the article, the Editorial Board has developed guidelines for the reviewer.

  6. The reviewer makes one of the following conclusions:

    • recommend the article for publication in the author's version;

    • recommend the article for publication after revision and consideration of the indicated deficiencies;

    • recommend transferring the article for additional review to another specialist;

    • reject the publication of the work, indicating the reason.

  7. The Editor-in-Chief reviews the reviewers' proposals and makes the appropriate decision: to send the article for printing or to return it to the author with a proposal to take into account the reviewer's recommendations and revise it. The revised work received from the author is re-reviewed.

  8. Since 2015, the Editorial Board has switched to the practice of double-blind peer review: the author does not know who is evaluating their work, and the reviewer does not know whom they are reviewing. Correspondence between the reviewer and the author is conducted through the Editorial Board. When evaluating an article, the reviewer may, on their own initiative, involve certain specialists to provide a substantiated response regarding publication.

  9. For the Editor-in-Chief, the reviewer's conclusion is not final. If the reviewers' opinions do not coincide, the Editor-in-Chief sends the work for additional review to a third reviewer.

  10. If the author disagrees with the review, they may send a reasoned response to the Editorial Board, and then the Editorial Board decides on the advisability of sending it for re-review to a different panel of reviewers. In conflict or non-standard situations, the Editor-in-Chief makes the appropriate decision independently.

  11. In the case of a positive review, the Editor-in-Chief submits the article to the editorial office with the note "For Print" (or "Accepted"), and the article goes through the following stages: stylistic and spelling editing, technical editing, and layout formatting for submission to the publisher.

  12. The Academic Council of the I. Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University finally approves the issue at its regular meetings.

  13. Originals of articles and reviews are kept in the journal's editorial office for three years.

Publication Fees

Publication of articles is fee-based. The cost is calculated based on the number of characters in the material; DOI assignment is charged additionally in the amount of 100 UAH. The exact payment amount and bank details for the transfer will be sent after the completion of the article review.

Plagiarism Policy

The journal checks all manuscripts submitted to the journal for plagiarism by independent experts and special software Plagiat.pl and Unicheck. We protect the rights of authors/co-authors and investigate allegations of plagiarism or misuse of published articles. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the information presented in the articles, the accuracy of names, surnames, and citations. Authors are responsible for the materials submitted by them in case plagiarism is detected in them. Similarly, we protect the journal's reputation against abuse of official position. Thus, the journal reserves the right to reject an article for plagiarism without further explanation and take appropriate legal measures.

Each article undergoes an anti-plagiarism check using the Unicheck program.

Plagiarism Prevention

THE EDITORIAL BOARD DEFINES THE PHENOMENON OF PLAGIARISM AS FOLLOWS:

Plagiarism – the publication (making public), in whole or in part, of another person's text under the name of a person who is not the author of this text.

Self-plagiarism – the republication by the author of significant in volume and identical in form and content of their own scientific texts without indicating the fact of their previous or simultaneous publication.

Textual plagiarism – full or partial borrowing of text fragments (not altered or modified) present in articles, theses, reports, monographs, manuscripts of qualification works, etc.

Actions characterizing the process of plagiarism:

  • passing off someone else's work as one's own;

  • copying words or ideas of another person without reference to their work;

  • intentional omission of a reference from the list of sources;

  • providing incorrect data about the source (e.g., a "broken" link);

  • changing the word order while preserving the general sentence structure and without reference to the source;

  • copying a large amount of text or ideas with citations to sources that collectively make up the majority of the article.

Plagiarism is classified into the following categories:

  • exact copying without changes (Copy & Paste) and without proper bibliographic formatting of borrowed fragments;

  • copying with changes in linguistic, lexical, and technological interpretation (with word permutation, replacement of letters, numbers);

  • style imitation;

  • translation from another language;

  • borrowing an idea.

Archiving Policy

Archiving is an extremely important element for open-access journals. To ensure content preservation, expand access to articles, and facilitate their usage, the journal deposits its content in the publicly accessible archives of the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (Kyiv, Ukraine) and the Electronic Scientific Repository of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Ternopil, Ukraine).

Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)

The journal "Actual Problems of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology" adheres to the principles of transparency, academic integrity, and research ethics at all stages of preparation, submission, and publication of scientific materials. Due to the widespread use of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), we provide the following clarification regarding its permissible use.

Generative artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript. Responsibility for the content of the article – including its accuracy, originality, and compliance with ethical standards – lies entirely with the human authors.

Authors may use GenAI for limited purposes, such as improving grammar or style, provided that:

  • Such use does not alter the scientific content or interpretation of data;

  • Authors critically evaluate and verify all results generated by AI;

  • The use of GenAI is clearly indicated in the manuscript (for example, in a separate block before the list of references), specifying the name of the tool and the purpose of its application.

Example:

Declaration on AI usage: Statement: During the preparation of this article, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL / SERVICE] in order to [REASON]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the text and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the published manuscript.

It is prohibited to use GenAI for data generation, writing literature reviews without verification, creating fake citations, or preparing original content (e.g., abstracts, conclusions, or results) without human participation. Such actions may be considered a violation of publication ethics.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the use of GenAI tools complies with current ethical standards, particularly those regarding data confidentiality, consent of research participants, and copyright compliance.

Editors and reviewers may use GenAI for auxiliary tasks (e.g., grammar checking or brief text summary), provided this does not violate confidentiality or the integrity of the peer review process.

Any assessment made using AI must be accompanied by human analysis.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to request additional information from authors regarding the use of GenAI and to take appropriate measures in case of detection of abuse.

Recommendations for Authors

  • Use AI as an auxiliary tool Apply AI for editing, translation, or idea generation, but do not rely on it to create the main content.

  • Check facts and sources AI can generate false or fictitious information. Always verify facts and references, especially if they were generated using AI.

  • Avoid plagiarism Using AI does not exempt from responsibility for plagiarism. Ensure that all sources are properly cited and that the generated text is original or properly attributed.

We follow the Generative AI policies for journals from Elsevier.
