The World Psychiatric Association and the European Association of Psychiatrists, as the main strategy for the treatment of psychosis in general, and schizophrenia, pay particular attention to the level of social functioning and quality of life of patients with this pathology.
The aim of the study – to learn the characteristics of social functioning and patients with paranoid schizophrenia and acute polymorphic psychotic disorder.
Materials and Methods. 137 patients with the first psychotic episode were clinically examined: 1) 65 patients (2-3rd hospitalization) – diagnosed with prostate cancer (F20.0) 2) 72 patients (first hospitalization) – diagnosed with GPRR (F23.0, F23). The study of the level of social functioning in patients with PN and GPRR, at different age periods of their life, was carried out using the structured interview PAS-SI, compared with anamnesis data.
Results and Discussion. It was revealed that in patients with PN in SPT, in all age periods there was a medium-low level of general social functioning with a gradual slight decrease of this level a year before the manifestation of psychosis. Whereas in patients with GPRR, wavelike fluctuations in the level of general social functioning were found, from high to medium and medium to high, with an average level of general social functioning a year before the manifestation of psychosis.
Conclussions. A stable and lower level of general social functioning in all age periods in patients with PN, in contrast to patients with GPRR, indicates a decrease in the adaptive capacities of the psyche of patients with pancreas. At a time when a higher level of social functioning and its undulating fluctuations, from high to medium and medium to high, indicate less pronounced changes in the adaptation of patients with GPRR.
