Abstract

Salivary glands play an important role in maintaining the normal homeostasis of tissues and organs of the mouth. Diseases of the hepatobiliary system are central to all somatic pathologies of the human body. In case of damage to the barrier and antimicrobial functions of the liver with portal blood through the intestinal translocation is opportunistic bacteria. As a result hepato-renal, hepato-pulmonary, hepato-mucosal and hepato-oral symptoms are known. It is established that the risk of   pathological changes of salivary glands in patients with hepatobiliary pathology is much higher. Atrophic and catarrhal gingivitis, periodontitis, glossitis, hyposalivatsiya and hypersensitivity of enamel and dentin are always present in these patients

The aim of the study – study the status of salivary glands and their impact on dental status of patients with hepatobiliary disease.

Materials and Methods. It was carried out 40 inspection visits, which were divided into 3 groups. The first group – control (healthy people), consisted of 11 people. The second group consisted of 10 patients with chronic inflammation of the gallbladder. The third group  – 19 people with chronic cholecystitis, combined with an acute hyalodenitis. Age of surveyed – 20–45 years.

The clinical examinition consisted of chief comlains, examination of the oral tissues and indices of oral health determination (Green Vermilyona, Fedorova). The collection of unstimulated saliva for 15 minutes on an empty stomach was conducted. Status of hepatobiliary system was assessed by biochemical studies of blood serum in patients of gastro-entherologichal department.

Results and Discussion. According to studies, it was demonstrated that in patients with hepatobiliary disorders the possibility of pathology of salivary glands and occurrence of dental diseases increases.

Conclusions. Clinical and laboratory research showed that the hyposalivation increases the likelihood of dental diseases. As a result of reducing the volume of saliva, decreasing its amount in the mouth and as a result the microbial factor  prevalue of protective properties and provoke the development of pathological processes.
