Abstract

Were defined risk factors of development and progression of cognitive impairment based on clinical studies, hemodynamic and morphometric characteristics in 120 patients with lacunar subtype of ischemic stroke. Risk factors for dementia after suffering a lacunar stroke include: male gender, low level of education, large type of microvasculature structure, morphometric signs of internal or mixed cerebral atrophy, and the presence of multiple or "silent" lacunar lesions.
