Objective: to examine the impact of migration on the epidemic situation of malaria in the Republic of Tajikistan (RT).
Materials and methods. Retrospective statistical analysis of malaria morbidity and the impact of migration on the epidemic situation in RT had been conducted. The information base includes data of National Center for Health Statistics and Information, State Statistics Committee, State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision of the RT, WHO policy and program documents.
Results. Migration processes in RT during 1990–2000 have contributed to increasing the malaria incidence in 1.5–2.5 times. Migration was the starting point for further spread of malaria in all regions of Tajikistan.
Conclusions. The data concerning migration impact on the epidemic situation of malaria must be taken into account during development of measures for prevention and control of malaria in Tajikistan.
