Introduction. Nurses are a key link in the healthcare system, without which it would be impossible to effectively establish, maintain, preserve and restore the health of the population. In the current context of medical science development and healthcare system reform, high-quality professional training of nurses is of particular importance, as it involves not only the development of practical skills but also thorough terminological competence. Latin language is the foundation of medical terminology and serves as a universal means of professional communication in medicine, as confirmed by the works of many scientists.
The aim of the work – to study the role of Latin language in the process of training specialists of the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education in the specialty I5 ‘Nursing’, specialisation I5.01 ‘Nursing’ by introducing a scientifically sound, cost-effective, professionally oriented and effective model of training in a unified medical and social space between higher education and healthcare institutions, social institutions.
The main part. The study was conducted based on the analysis of domestic and foreign scientific works using the PubMed and Google Scholar databases for the period 2014-2025, as well as bibliosemantic, analytical, and systematic methods. The study showed that learning Latin language is an important element of professional training for bachelor’s degree students in nursing at higher education medical institutions. It contributes to the formation of terminological competence, increases the accuracy of clinical procedures, develops logical and clinical thinking, and ensures effective communication in a multidisciplinary medical team.
Conclusions. Research into the role of Latin in the professional training of nurses is not only relevant but also strategically important for contemporary nursing education, as it contributes to the formation of professional language competence, the development of clinical thinking, the competitiveness of graduates in the European labour market, and the overall improvement of the quality of nursing education and professional activity in general.
