Introduction. Modern society is increasingly aware of the need to create an inclusive environment in which everyone, regardless of their level of functional capabilities, will be able to fully realize themselves in various spheres of life, including physical education and sports. In this context, the development of adaptive sports, which provides access to systematic physical activity, competitive practice, and social integration for people with disabilities and health problems, is of particular relevance. One of the most effective and widespread forms of adaptive sports is adaptive swimming. Its versatility, accessibility, positive impact on various body systems, and high motivational component make this sport a unique means of physical rehabilitation, psycho-emotional support, and development of physical qualities in people with various nosologies.
The aim of the study – to analyze the role and importance of adaptive swimming in the system of adaptive sports, as well as to determine its potential as a tool for physical, psycho-emotional and social rehabilitation.
The main part. Adaptive swimming is a form of motor activity in the aquatic environment, specially adapted for people with disabilities or temporary disorders of body functions. Its main goal is to ensure physical development, maintain or restore the functional state of the body, as well as create conditions for socialization and improve the quality of life. Adaptive swimming has a number of physiological and psycho-emotional benefits for people with health problems, including: reduced stress on joints and spine; improved coordination of movements; activation of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, which helps to improve endurance; reduction of muscle spasms and increased muscle tone; improvement of psycho-emotional state, reduction of anxiety and depression.
Conclusions. Adaptive swimming is an extremely effective means of physical therapy, sports and social integration of people with disabilities. It contributes to the improvement of physical health, development of social skills and formation of an active life position.
