Introduction. The profession of nursing makes up the largest number of medical personnel in the whole world, so it is necessary to take a responsible approach to the educational trajectory of the applicants of the specialty to ensure the appropriate professional competencies and program learning outcomes
The aim of the study – to determine the necessity of teaching the discipline of Clinical laboratory diagnostics to applicants of specialty 223 “Nursing”.
The main part. Working out the educational and professional programs and job descriptions of nurses at workplaces, we became convinced of the need to introduce the discipline of Clinical laboratory diagnostics for students of specialty 223 “Nursing”. To determine whether the discipline should be mandatory or optional, a questionnaire was conducted among graduates of the first and second level of higher education, specialty 223 “Nursing”. The survey was conducted online, 224 respondents took part, of which 123 participants were nursing bachelor’s graduates and 101 were master’s graduates. The obtained data indicate that at the first level of higher education in the specialty 223 “Nursing” the discipline of CLD must be studied in a mandatory manner, and at the second level - as a selective educational component.
Conclusions. The obtained results indicate the need to introduce the discipline of Clinical laboratory diagnostics in specialty 223 “Nursing”: at the first level of higher education in the form of a mandatory educational component, and at the second level of higher education as a selective one, at the discretion of the student.
