Summary. Extraction of the tooth is a frequent surgical intervention in the outpatient practice of a dental surgeon. In most cases, the healing of the postoperative wound is without complications. However, in some patients, the course of healing is complicated by an acute inflammatory process – alveolitis, whose incidence increases with the growth of traumatic operative intervention.
The aim of the study – to learn the clinical efficacy of polybinoline-curiosic mixture for the treatment of acute alveolitis.
Materials and Methods. 35 patients aged 37 to 52 years with acute alveolitis were examined, who were divided into 2 groups: experimental (25 persons) and control (15 people). After establishing the diagnosis under the conductive anesthesia with an ultraquine solution, the curettage spoon of the disintegration of the blood clot was removed. The well was then washed with decasan. According to further tactics, the patients were divided into two groups. Patients in an experimental group (25 persons) after filling were filled with a polybinyl-curiosic mixture, an antiseptic band applied to the well, which patients kept for an hour. The meal was recommended in 5–6 hours. Patients in the control group (15 people) have a well tooth, tamponed with iodine gauze.
Results and Discussion. In the course of the local therapy, the dynamics of reduction of clinical manifestations of alveolitis in the comparator groups was different. Pain sensation in serous alveolitis in patients with experimental group was observed for (3.1±0.2) days, whereas in patients of the control group they were longer – (4.7±0.3) days. The average duration of the mucosa swelling around the wells of detached teeth in patients of the experimental group in serous alveolitis was (3.7±0.3) days, and in patients in the control group it was longer – (4.2±0.2) days. The average duration of infiltration of the transitional fold in the area of the alveolus of the removed teeth in the patients of the experimental group was (3.1±0.8) days, in the control group – (3.9±0.5) days. The granulations in alveoli appeared on 3–5 day of treatment in patients of experimental group, whereas in patients of control group only after 6–7 days. The further clinical course in the two groups of study did not differ.
Conclusions. According to the data obtained in the studies, the treatment of serous alveolitis with the use of a polybinoline-curiosic mixture, reduces the manifestation of inflammatory response and promotes the healing of alveoli.
