Abstract

The article presents the results of  the comparative study of the influence of different designs of complete dentures’ bases (hard; two-layer with soft liner and three-layer containing fluid) on the mucous membrane of prosthetic bed under 90 edentulous patients using laser Doppler technique flowmetry.

It was established that the changes that occur in the blood supply of tissues under the dentures with hard bases are reversed, and in 6 months returning to baseline values or even adaptively increased. Use a soft lining in the construction of complete dentures allows distribute chewing load more evenly but significantly and irreversibly impairs blood flow to the tissues of prosthetic bed, it can cause dystrophic bone volume loss in the base in the long run. Using liquid layer in the construction of complete dentures on the one hand prevents areas of concentration occlusion pressure, while facilitating adaptation mucosa prosthetic bed in the near term observations, and then it is characterized by normalization of blood filling.
