Abstract

The objective of the work was to study the histochemical features of the placenta in pregnancy complicated by preeclampsia varying severity with an emphasis on the study of atherosis and prediction of the potential cardiovascular risks in the future. Histochemical study of the placenta of women whose pregnancy was complicated by preeclampsia (PE). Accordingly, the first group consisted of placentas from 12 women with mild PE; group II – 9 placentas from women with moderate and severe PE; III group (control) consisted of 15 placentas from women without obstetric and somatic pathology and signs of PE with vaginal deliveries on time. In the placenta of women mainly from the moderate and severe PE we identified the phenomen of atherosis of the different degrees of severity which correlate with indicators of the lipid profile in blood serum investigated in II trimester of pregnancy, and indicate about the deep disturbances of lipid metabolism in this category of patients. Atherosis in the spiral arteries of the placenta and decidual shell is one of the predictors of the possible development of metabolic disorders and cardiovascular disease in the future among women which pregnancy is complicated by the development of PE.
