The aim of the present study was toevaluate the immune responsein young child ren with iron-deficiency anemia(IDA).Atotalof75child ren aged0- 3years with ID Awere evaluated.The control group consisted of 20age-match ed healthy children.In the study
group,24(32%)child ren were diagnosed with mild anemia,21(28%)-with moderate anemia,18(24%)-with severe anemia,and
12(16%) -with very severe anemia.The progression o fseverity of the iron deficiency and of anemia was found to be associatedwith
deficien cyofessential microelements ,such as zinc and copper.InI-IIIdegreesofIDA ,microelement imbalance was associated with
marked lyimpairedcell-mediated immunity, andwith compensatory in creaseinIgAsynt
