Abstract

SUMMARY. Endometriosis is one of the most common diseases of the female reproductive system. Despite more than a hundred years since the first reports on this issue, some aspects of the etiology, pathogenesis, clinic, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this disease continue to grow and remain the subject of scientific research.

The aim – to carry out an analysis regarding the impact of endometriosis on fertility and the use of assisted reproductive technologies in women suffering from this disease.

Material and Methods. 42 sources of modern scientific literature, including 35 foreign ones, have been analyzed. The bibliosemantic method has been used.

Results. Endometriosis continues to be the cause of a large number of diagnostic errors, despite the use of modern examination methods. Currently, there are no known ways to prevent endometriosis. Increased awareness, early suspicion, and early diagnosis and treatment can slow or stop the progression of the disease, as endometriosis can often have symptoms that mimic other conditions, making diagnosis difficult. Numerous schemes and methods of treatment of endometriosis patients with infertility, including at the stage of preparation for the program of assisted reproductive technologies (ART), cause discussions.

Conclusions. The issue of treatment of patients with endometriosis is complex and not covered completely nowadays. An individual scheme of examination and treatment should be developed for every single patient. There is no doubt that owing to the continuous research into mechanisms of pathogenesis, immunological and genetic bases of the disease, development of new methods of surgical treatment, schemes for correction of clinical manifestations of endometriosis and optimization of preventive measures will improve the effectiveness of therapy and increase the quality of life of patients.
