Abstract

SUMMARY. It is known that plants are the primary sources of many bioactive substances. Standardization of herbal medicine technology and its reproducibility are integral criteria for successful creation of high-quality phytopreparations. With the development of technology and evidence-based medicine, herbal medicine is gaining even more reason to expand the application scale. That is why the research of plant combinations that meet modern ideas and requirements of quality, safety and efficiency for the possibility of expanding the indications for their use is of scientific interest. Combined herbal remedy BNO 2103 which is an active substance of the herbal remedy Canephron ® N is proposed for use in the treatment of chronic kidney disease.

The aim – to study the antiproliferative potential of the BNO 2103 on the model of a cotton pellet granuloma in rats.

Material and Methods. Experimental studies were performed on 30 of outbred albino male rats that were divided into 3 groups. A cotton pellet granuloma model was used as an experimental pathology. For pathology correction, BNO 2103 was used at a dose of 33.0 mg/kg. Sodium diclofenac at a dose of 8.0 mg/kg was chosen as a reference drug. All investigated samples were administered intragastrically daily for 7 days in the form of suspensions. After completing the study, the formed granuloma was removed and the antiproliferative activity of the experimental objects was calculated.

Results. Antiproliferative activity of BNO 2103 on the cotton pellet granuloma model in rats amounted to 10.13 %, activity of sodium diclofenac – 15.30 %. Indicators of antiproliferative activity in case of treatment with BNO 2103 were not significant comparing to the group of sodium diclofenac.

Conclusions. Antiproliferative activity of BNO 2103 is moderately pronounced and is slightly inferior to the activity of the reference drug diclofenac sodium. The obtained results indicate a sufficient level of BNO 2103 activity, which may be useful in the treatment of kidney diseases that are usually associated with an inflammation.
