MODERN DIRECTIONS OF TREATMENT AND PREVENTION OF CARIES OF TEETH

Caries of teeth remains the most common disease of humanity to date. Scientific research and clinical observations indicate that dental caries treatment is most often performed by an operational method.
The aim of the study – to substantiate theoretically the current state of problems in the treatment and prevention of dental caries, to identify promising areas for solving this problem.
Materials and Methods. The material served as literary sources over a large time period to ascertain the main trends in the treatment and prevention of dental caries in the world. Analysis of literary sources allowed to determine that world scientists obtained significant achievements in methodological and methodological areas; a comparative assessment was carried out and new ways of solving the problem were proposed in modern conditions.
Results and Discussion. The questions of modern scientific directions of treatment and prevention of dental caries are considered. The analysis of various approaches to the treatment of dental caries in historical terms, starting from the twentieth century, is presented. The proposed treatment methods were evaluated in terms of a critical approach to the prophylactic removal of hard tooth tissues. According to the analysis of literary sources, the evolution of filling materials is shown. The main promising areas for improving treatment and preventive measures and filling materials are highlighted.
Conclusions. Operational dentistry must begin with a cariology, and it is important that it again becomes the dominant discipline in this profession. With the elimination of carious disease, the need for narrow specialties will significantly decrease.
