Abstract

Purpose: to investigate the peculiarities of the formation of leadership qualities of health care managers and health care managers.

Materials and Methods. We conducted a comprehensive study to examine the best practices used in Ukraine and some other countries in the field of leadership development among healthcare professionals and managers. The study used a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analysis to gain a comprehensive understanding of the strategies and programs implemented in these countries.

Results. Training of managers is extremely important in the healthcare sector and in reputable professional institutions such as I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. To understand the essence of healthcare leadership training, the environment plays a crucial role, as well as the approaches that should be used for individual and collective learning to increase the effectiveness of a healthcare leader. Incorporating different leadership development strategies and understanding of procedures improves the learning process for healthcare managers.

Conclusions. There is a considerable amount of evidence to support the significant influence of the situational context, especially in a dynamic and highly complex health care environment, on the development of the necessary managerial competencies and managerial development methodologies used to professionalize health care management in Ukraine. The researchers view leadership development not only as a personal development, but also as a social process that is influenced by specific contextual factors and the stage of a manager's career in the healthcare sector. Methodologies of managerial training should be aimed at forming a healthcare leader who has a deep understanding of the specifics of his/her activities and demonstrates the competencies expected by the healthcare industry. Effective methods of training managers are more likely to succeed if they are focused on developing practical knowledge and enhancing the leader's ability to adapt and develop in response to the challenges they face in the current healthcare context.
