Purpose: to conduct a comparative analysis of patient satisfaction with the quality of dental care in health care institutions of different forms of ownership on the results of a sociological study.
Materials and Methods. The sociological study was conducted according to a specially developed program and was carried out by questioning patients who applied to three communal (401 respondents) and three private (389 respondents) dental clinics in Kiev. Both samples of respondents were qualitatively and quantitatively representative. Questionnaires were filled out anonymously by patients after receiving dental care. The assessment of the statistical significance of differences in the results of a sociological survey of patients in dental clinics of communal and private property was carried out according to the Pearson Chi-square test (χ2).
Results. A significant difference in patient satisfaction in communal and private dental institutions was revealed. Especially regarding the state of logistics, the completeness of the dental examination, the preventive orientation of dental care, the organization of dental appointments, the quality of service and the focus on the needs of the patient. It has been established that the reason for choosing a private dental institution is the high qualification of dentists, the availability of modern equipment, the opportunity to receive high-quality dental services, the attentive attitude of medical personnel and good service. The main reason for patients to go to a communal institution is the lower prices for dental services compared to private clinics.
Conclusion. The main ways to improve patient satisfaction with dental care are increasing of the its quality, focus on the individual needs of the patient based on a personalized approach, optimization of pricing policy, and providing benefits for socially vulnerable groups of the population.
