Introduction. The role of a modern nurse is extremely important in today’s society. Today, nurses must not only have medical knowledge, but also be able to make independent decisions. Due to the development of new medical technologies and changes in healthcare standards, it is necessary to update the legislation on nursing, follow local protocols, and constantly improve their skills.
The aim of the study – to highlight the socio-legal status of nurses as a set of subjective legal rights and obligations; as a sum of general, special, individual statuses, the ratio of which varies depending on specific situations.
The main part. Nurses, acting as employees, managers and middle managers in health care, need to know and be guided by various applicable laws and regulations that relate to their professional activities. It is important to understand the content and implications of their legal rights and responsibilities to protect the interests of nurses worldwide. This will help to establish the link between legal norms, socio-economic well-being and professional activity, facilitate the identification of gaps, contradictions and possible obstacles to professional development that may exist in the current legislation, to define the legal framework for nurses, explain the legal aspects of collective and individual salary agreements, as well as grievance and suggestion processes; identify potential areas where legal or legislative initiatives may be needed.
Conclusions. At the state level, legal and material support for junior specialists with medical education should be regulated, appropriate working conditions and a system of adequate remuneration should be created. Unfortunately, today there are no unified technological standards for nursing practice, no unified standards (protocols) for the provision of emergency medical care. They should be unified and developed by professionals. It is imperative to develop and adopt a law on junior healthcare workers with medical education, as this category still does not have its own professional, social and legal status in the sector. The adoption of such a law will contribute to the development of nursing, improve the professional level of nurses, and destroy outdated stereotypes.
