Introduction. The article examines the issue of rehabilitation (multiple vectors of measures, methods, approaches) of patients after injuries of the musculoskeletal system. Accompanying the patient during rehabilitation involves the involvement of specialists of various profiles in this process: psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, physiatrists. An attempt has been made to detail and differentiate the concepts of “physiotherapy”, “physical therapy”, “ergotherapy”.
The aim of the study – to analyse the literature on the essence of the concepts “rehabilitation”, “physical rehabilitation”, “medical rehabilitation”, “rehabilitator”, “ergotherapist”, “physical therapist”; selection of methods, means and measures of various types of rehabilitation in achieving one goal – restoration of the maximum possible capacity and independence of a person who has lost health due to diseases, accidents and war, adaptation of such a person in society.
The main part. A deeper understanding of the essence of the concepts “rehabilitation”, “physical therapy”, “physiotherapy”, “ergotherapy” makes it possible, on the one hand, to distinguish between methods, techniques and tools, and on the other hand, it allows you to more correctly draw up a rehabilitation program, the phasing of the use of necessary medical directions and events. Physical medicine and rehabilitation is a medical field that deals with the restoration of partially or completely lost functions, as well as improving the quality of life of people with serious diseases, disabilities or after injuries received during combat operations. Which in itself is very relevant in light of the ongoing wars.
Conclusions. An analysis of scientific publications devoted to the detailing and specification of the depth of filling and content of the concepts of “rehabilitation”, “physical therapy”, “physiotherapy”, “homeokinesis”, “ergotherapy” indicates that the concept of «rehabilitation» is the most extensive. It can include all other concepts. All these techniques and methods, means and measures are aimed at achieving one common final goal – restoring the patient’s viable independent functionality.
