Abstract

Introduction. Human progress and development are largely determined by motivational factors. Both external motivation and internal self-motivation play a significant role, especially in the context of the educational process. This article explores the ways and methods of effectively forming and maintaining motivation in students studying “Physical Therapy”. The approaches presented are aimed at increasing their engagement in the learning process, developing professional skills, and preparing them for future professional activities.

The aim of the study – to analyze the main factors of motivation and identify effective ways to enhance it among higher education students specializing in 227 “Physical Therapy”.

The main part. Motivation is the process that activates and sustains goal-oriented activity, encouraging individuals to voluntarily participate in organizational activities and strive to remain members in the long term. There are different types of motivation, with two main ones being external and internal. External motivation is related to working conditions, the atmosphere in the workplace, and the nature of the tasks being performed. Internal motivation, on the other hand, depends on the individual characteristics of the employee and serves as the driving force that boosts productivity. These principles can also be applied to educational activities, which become much more effective when there is a positive attitude toward learning, cognitive interest, and the need to acquire knowledge, skills, and competencies. Pedagogical efforts should be directed toward improving students’ academic performance by stimulating their positive motivation for learning. In this context, a certain contradiction arises: on the one hand, there is an objective need to foster the motivation for cognitive activity in students of medical higher education institutions through the implementation of interactive technologies. This approach takes into account both the internal features of the educational process and the external requirements for future medical professionals with higher education. On the other hand, a scientifically grounded technology for forming such motivation through modern systems is still lacking.

Conclusions. We conducted an analysis of scientific sources to find ways and methods of forming motivation in students specializing in physical therapy. Improving methods for fostering motivation for learning will contribute to a higher level of knowledge acquisition.
