Introduction. The relevance of the issue of physical therapy for traumatic injuries of the upper extremity in the conditions of the Ukrainian present remains actual, as well as introduction to the rehabilitation process and coverage of the principles of work with patients of this nosology. Explanations are provided on the upper limb trauma, which leads to a significant decrease in the quality of life of the patient, the principle of early initiation of timely interventions that play a major role in the process of recovery and rehabilitation is explained as well.
The aim of the study – to analyze the physical therapy methods for traumatic injuries of the upper extremity and to develop an effective individual rehabilitation plan to restore patients’ functional capabilities.
The main part. The list and description of the main methods that can be used for traumatic injuries of the upper extremity, the tasks to be achieved at each stage of rehabilitation, and their division into: immobilization, post-immobilization and recovery. For each stage, recommendations for exercises and procedures are given, as well as the difficulties that a physical therapist and patient may face in the recovery process. Physical rehabilitation of patients with traumatic injuries of the upper extremity is aimed at restoring mobility, strength and functionality of the injured area. The main goals are to reduce pain, improve muscle tone and coordination, and prevent the development of contractures and mobility limitations. The main stages of physical rehabilitation are the early recovery period (immobilization and reduction of swelling, lymphatic drainage massage and passive movements, pain reduction), the main recovery period (active movements and strengthening, therapeutic exercises, muscle relaxation techniques and massage), and the final recovery period (functional exercises, strength and endurance training and preparation for returning to professional or sports activities). An individually tailored rehabilitation program helps to effectively restore upper limb function and prevent complications.
Conclusions. Emphasizing the importance of an individualized approach to each patient and an integrated approach to rehabilitation and multidisciplinarity. Explanation of the importance of continuous professional training and development of a physical therapist.
