Introduction. The role of a nurse in the social adaptation of patients, especially in the field of psychiatry, is extremely important as providing support and assistance is crucial for improving their quality of life. Special emphasis is placed on the role of a nurse in child psychiatry, where creating conditions for psychological comfort and social adaptation, developing emotional management skills, and communication in children are vital for their well-being and development.
The aim of this study – to investigate and highlight the role of the medical nurse in the process of patients’ social adaptation and improvement of their quality of life.
The main part. The article discusses the importance of social adaptation of patients in medical institutions, particularly in child psychiatry, and the role of a nurse in this process. The main aspects of nurses’ work include providing psychological assistance, support for the family environment, sleep and nutrition correction, stress and anxiety reduction, enhancement of self-esteem and social integration, as well as the application of therapeutic techniques to identify and overcome emotional and psychological problems in children. Additionally, nurses in child psychiatry play a significant role in monitoring the mental state of patients and responding to changes in their condition. They must be particularly attentive to symptoms of depression, anxiety, or aggression in order to provide necessary assistance and support promptly. It is also important to remember that effective collaboration between nurses and other members of the medical staff is crucial for ensuring a comprehensive spectrum of care and treatment for pediatric patients in psychiatric facilities. This includes exchanging information about patients’ conditions, coordinating the treatment process, and jointly developing individual care plans for each patient.
Conclusions. A nurse in psychiatry, especially in working with children, not only provides medical assistance but also ensures psychological support and promotes social adaptation. The nurse plays a key role in creating a positive emotional environment and ensures the psychological growth and well-being of children by providing a comprehensive approach that includes medical treatment and psychological support.
