Abstract

Introduction. Cardiovascular diseases (CVD), such as coronary heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, stroke, rheumatic heart disease, and hypertension, remain the main threats worldwide. Nurses play an important role in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, and their work strategy is aimed at minimizing people’s heart diseases.

The aim of the study – is to study nurses’ perception of their role and experience in involvement in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

The main part. The study was based on the analysis of scientific sources of information on the specified topic. Twelve million nurses form the largest medical cohort involved in the management of risk factors for cardiovascular disease and chronic disease in general worldwide. According to new guidelines presented at the American College of Cardiology’s 2019 Scientific Sessions, up to 80 % of cardiovascular disease is preventable, with medications contributing only 10 % to 20 % of that prevention, while lifestyle changes play a major role. Nurses play an important role in empowering and motivating patients to make healthy lifestyle changes. Therefore, nurses must learn to use innovative educational strategies such as motivational interviews. Key aspects of the role of nurses in heart health include health promotion and knowledge, screening and early detection, assessment and monitoring of patients, and emergency cardiovascular care. rehabilitation and treatment of chronic diseases. community outreach programs and prevention, advocacy, and support.

Conclusions. Nurse-led interventions play an important role in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases because they effectively counteract risk factors by educating patients about a healthy lifestyle, implementing special cardiology programs to combat CVD, and successfully rehabilitating patients who have survived severe cardiovascular events.
