Abstract

Introduction. In society, it is necessary to understand the importance of the use of vitamin D3 for the child’s body. Vitamin D is important for proper bone mineralization in children and the formation of the immune system response. Therefore, the correct implementation of the prescriptions of this vitamin by parents with a preventive purpose is of great importance in the formation of the health of each person, starting from an early age.

The aim of the study – to conduct an analysis of risk factors from the side of the mother (antenatal) and baby factors in the formation of alimentary rickets in a child with atopic dermatitis.

The main part. The clinical case of a 7-month-old child with signs of atopic dermatitis and alimentary rickets seeking medical help to a doctor is described. The main clinical criteria observed in a child with such a combined pathology are described and highlighted, auxiliary research methods are analyzed. An analysis of antenatal risk factors for the development of alimentary rickets in a child was carried out: the mother’s refusal to supplement with vitamin D during pregnancy, the lack of calcium-fortified products in the diet, selective nutrition, being outdoors in closed clothes during walks and postnatal (infant) factors: late and irrational introduction of supplementary food, unsystematic use of vitamin D3 for preventive purposes, taking walks in the yard only in comfortable weather.

Conclusions. In the formation of alimentary rickets, a combination of risk factors from the side of the mother (antenatal) and infant factors play a role. The leading maternal factors contributing to the development of alimentary rickets are the features of a diet without fortification of widely used products and supplementation with vitamin D. The leading infant factors are a combination of risk factors such as ‘related to the intake of vitamin D internally with food products and taking a preventive dose of the vitamin and the possibility of vitamin D formation under the influence of solar radiation. The mother’s ignorance of the features of the accompanying pathology in the child (atopic dermatitis) aggravates the baby’s risk factors for the development of alimentary rickets. Emphasis is placed on the need for educational work among parents in order to raise awareness of the development of alimentary rickets in children with accompanying pathology.
