Abstract

The aim of the study. The article summarizes current scientific data on the specifics of surgical dental care for middle-aged and elderly patients. Morphological, systemic, and behavioral factors determining clinical tactics and prognosis of surgical interventions in geriatric patients are analyzed. The paper highlights the assessment of general health and surgical risk, postoperative healing, prevention of infectious and thromboembolic complications, and the impact of polypharmacy on treatment outcomes. Results and Discussion. Particular attention is given to anesthesia management, tooth extraction features, and the feasibility of dental implantation in older adults. The importance of a multidisciplinary approach involving dentists, physicians, cardiologists, endocrinologists, and gerontologists is emphasized. Geriatric surgical dentistry is presented as an integral part of the “healthy aging” concept, focused not only on technical treatment but also on maintaining patients’ functional, psychological, and social well-being.
