Summary. In modern interpretation of orofacial pain, dentists need to have a clear idea of the pathogenesis of orofacial pain, the peculiarities of pathological manifestations of disorders in the temporomandibular joints and necessity to take into account the state of the maxillofacial area in the implementation of dental and orthopedic treatment. In this case, optimal is using of a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of these manifestations.
The aim of the study – based on the analysis of scientific and methodological information sources, substantiate the expediency of using an interdisciplinary approach to the treatment of patients with partial and complete absence of teeth and their interrelation with manifestations of myalgia, arthralgia, pathology of the temporomandibular joint.
Materials and methods. Bibliographic analysis of the relationship between the manifestations of orofacial pain and temporomandibular pathology.
Results and Discussion. Acute and chronic manifestations of orofacial syndrome are divided into three main categories: somatic, neurogenic and psychogenic. Now there is a large number of different pathological interactions and secret interactions from the head and neck, which causes false interrogations of clinical manifestations by doctors and false diagnoses that are often observed in clinical practice.
Conclusions. The multifactority of this problem in a significant degree determines the structure of necessary diagnostic and therapeutic measures in the planning of dental, orthopedic treatment and rehabilitation of patients.
The decision for a number of authors, the most effective solution to the problem of orofacial pain and pathology of the temporomandibular joints is an interdisciplinary approach with the participation of dentists, otolaryngologists, rehabilitologists and psychotherapists. In the framework of a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach to diagnostics, it is necessary to use diagnostic research methods with a corresponding evidence base for the purpose of verifying pain neuromuscular or occlusion-articulation syndromes, as well as evaluating their systematic effect on the biomechanics of the relationship between all elements of the maxillofacial area.
