Abstract

Summary. The article presents the results of a study of individual features of the manifestation of autonomic reactions during the OSCE in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in graduate students of the Faculty of Dentistry in 2021. Modern social life constantly puts a person in a situation where the necessary stress of all emotional and physical forces. One of such situations is an examination session, where students experience examination stress, which negatively affects the cardiovascular, nervous and immune systems.

The aim of the study – to study the features of autonomic regulation of the cardiovascular system in graduate students of the Faculty of Dentistry of different psychosomatic personality types during the examination session in the OSCE in 2021.

Materials and Methods. Our study involved 48 fifth-year students of the dental faculty of the I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University (TNMU) of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Distance learning was conducted during the semester using Microsoft Teams software in the Moodle learning environment. The exam was conducted in the form of the OSCE, in accordance with the order of TNMU on the organization of the educational process. The study was conducted immediately after the OSCE exam. Students were divided into two groups: extroverts (32) and introverts (16) according to the Eisenko questionnaire. The state of the autonomic nervous system was assessed by the Kerdo index.

Results and Discussion. Adding to the fear of exams are the peculiarities of the epidemic situation in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the peculiarities of distance learning and the exam itself. The reaction of the autonomic nervous system of each student is individual. Males and females react differently to stressful situations. Therefore, in these conditions, the study of the state of autonomic nervous regulation of the cardiovascular system in individuals of different psychosomatic personality and sex by studying certain parameters of the cardiovascular system, as well as the integrated indicator of its activity – the Kerdo index, the results of which are presented in the article.

Conclusions. According to the Eisenko questionnaire, extroverts predominated among the graduate students. Performance indicators of ANS differed significantly in persons of different psychosomatic personality and sex. No persons in a state of vegetative balance were found. Female introverts were the most sensitive to the influence of emotional state on heart rate. Males were less stress-resistant than females.
