Programme objectives of the scientific and practical journal "Medical Informatics and Engineering":
informing healthcare professionals and related fields of knowledge/science, scientists, pedagogical and scientific-pedagogical staff of higher education institutions, employees of scientific institutions of medical, pharmaceutical and biological profiles, the public about the results of basic and applied research in biomedical informatics and engineering, about current trends and processes of informatisation taking place in the Ukrainian economy.
Frequency: 4 times a year.
Languages of publication: Ukrainian, English.
Subjects and types of publications
The journal "Medical Informatics and Engineering" accepts for publication articles, reviews, short communications, letters to the Editorial Board containing original research materials on the following topics:
- Informatisation of the healthcare system. Trends in the development of medical and biological informatics and engineering.
- Information, expert and intelligent systems in healthcare and biology.
- Information technologies of systematic research in healthcare and biology.
- Management problems in biomedical systems.
- Optimisation of management of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation processes.
- Telemedicine technologies.
- Mathematical modelling in healthcare and biology.
- Evidence-based medicine/pharmacy.
- Medical engineering and electronics.
- Information technologies for obtaining, storing, transmitting and analysing biomedical information.
- Acquisition, processing and analysis of biomedical images and signals.
- Computer diagnostics of diseases and computer forecasting of the course and consequences of the pathological process.
- Development and application of biometric methods.
- Structuring of knowledge, knowledge bases, organisation of search, processing and dissemination of knowledge.
- Modern information technologies in education in the fields of health and biology. Means of self-education.
- Theory and practice of distance education.
- Problems of building a "knowledge society".

By the decision of the Editorial Board, descriptions of promising scientific research, reviews, reference, information and educational materials, announcements of scientific events and advertising messages on topical issues of computer science and engineering in healthcare and biology are also accepted for publication.
Reviewing publications
The decision on publication is made by the Editorial Board on the basis of the results of the review of articles. The Editorial Board (Editorial Office) does not undertake to explain the reasons for refusal to publish. The materials sent to the Editorial Board are not returned to the authors. Manuscripts should present materials that have not been published before and have not been submitted to other publications.
Procedure.
Two independent experts review the content and originality of materials submitted for publication in the journal. The main principles of peer review are double-blind and confidentiality. Interaction between the author and reviewers takes place through the editorial board.
Ukrainian and English-language articles are evaluated by the editors for correctness and originality of wording. Any verbatim quotations from other publications should be enclosed in quotation marks and clearly attributed to the original sources.
Corrections are published upon request and after editorial review. Claims may be published in the journal at the request of the authors or their institutions, as well as after determining scientific dishonesty. Notes are published in response to editorial errors related to scientific and/or publishing misconduct on the part of authors or reviewers or to inform readers about an ongoing investigation.
The editorial board reserves the right to refuse to publish materials containing signs of plagiarism.
The journal is published on the Open Journal System platform with the possibility of cross-referencing, provided that the articles are properly formatted.
Ethics of publication
The legal basis for ensuring the practice of publication ethics is provided by international standards: the provisions adopted at the 2nd World Conference on Research Integrity; the provisions developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the norms of the section "Copyright" of the Civil Code of Ukraine.
Open access policy
The journal provides immediate open access to its content, which makes research freely available to the public, supporting the global exchange of knowledge for the overall social progress.
All articles with a CC-BY licence, after acceptance of the manuscript for publication, are published in open access, forever and free of charge for anyone who wishes to read and/or download them.
