Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts should be submitted in duplicate in Ukrainian, Russian or English and accompanied with a text file (*.rtf or *.dос) and images (*.jрg or *.tif) on a disc. Electronic and paper versions of the article should be identical. An electronic copy may also be send via e-mail.

Size of original article, including images, figures, references, summary, should not exceed 8 pages, size of problem article, literature review, lecture - 12 pages, short message, opinion etc. – up to 5 pages.

The manuscript should contain: (а) cover letter of the director of institution (subdivision), where the work has been carried out with a recommendation to publish and (b) expert opinion, with a seal affixed, concerning the possibility of an open publication of research materials. In the absence of expert opinion full responsibility for brought information is carried by the authors. The cost of publishing services is compensated by the authors. All authors have to put their signature of the first page of the article.

Articles that contain the original research materials should be structures in accordance with the requirements of Paragraph 3 of the Presidium Decree of HAC of Ukraine No. 7-05/1 of 15.01.2003, registered taking into account the recommendations of HAC of Ukraine concerning the publication of dissertations’ materials and in compliance with the DSTU fundamental requirements 3008­95 "Documents. Reports in science and technics. The structure and registration rules ".

All physical units should be given in accordance with the International System of Units (SI) according to the requirements DSTU standards group 3651-97 " Physical units"; in case of reasonable use of non-system measurement units there should be presented an example of their transfer in SI. Medical terminology should meet the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). The names of companies, devices, reagents and drugs should be given in original transcription.

Title page:

UDC – in the upper left corner.

Title of the article (in the center, bold type, type size - 16). It is not allowed to use the shortcuts in the title of the article.

Name(-s) and initials of the author  (-s) (in the center).

Full name of the institution.

Annotation: up to 200 words.

Key words: up to eight words.

The main part of the article contains the following sections:

Introduction (problem definition in general, its relationship with important scientific or practical tasks, analysis of recent published studies in which a solution of this problem has been initiated, separation of unsolved part of the general problem, which this work is devoted to).

The aim of the work. Materials and methods (presentation of the research object and methods, description of which should be enough for understanding of their feasibility and reproduction capabilities. In a case of experimental studies with animals the species, sex, animals quantity, anesthesia methods during manipulations associated with the paining in animals, the method of euthanasia should be indicated. It is mandatory to state the methods of statistical analysis with argumentation of criteria choice of assessments reliability).

Results and discussion (the main actual material is presented, full substantiation of the obtained scientific results is made, expressing own opinion concerning the obtained results, its comparing with the interpretation of analogous data, presented by other authors).

Conclusions. Prospects of further studies (an author’s vision of prospectivity of further ways to solve the problem adduced in the article is presented).

References (printed in order of source mentioning in square brackets).

All text should be printed in 1,5 interval, type – TimesNewRoman, type size - 14, on the one side of the page on white paper of format A4 (1800-2000 typographical units per page). Margin: on the left - 3 cm, on the right - 1,5 cm, top and bottom - 2,5 cm. Text should be typed in one column. Acceptable file formats are: MSWord (rtf, doc).

Headings should be typed in capital letters and bold type.

Equations should be typed in formula editor MSEquationEditor, that is a part of text editor MSWord.

References should be formed one after another, in order of appearance of the reference in the article. To design the references there should be used the national standard DSTU GOST 7.1:2006 "Bibliographic record. Bibliographic description. General requirements and rules of composition", which came into force from July, 1, 2007.

The figures with width up to 8 cm or 16 cm every is presented on a separate page. On the back side there should be indicated the name of the first author, name of the figure (briefly) and notes  "Up", "Down". All figures should be numbered in order of their appearance in the text. Axis thickness on diagrams should be 0,5 pt, curve thickness - 1,0 pt. Units on the axes of diagrams should be indicated after the coma without brackets. The figures should be of high quality, size of cutlines to axes and scale - 10 pt when noted a figure size above. Acceptable graphic formats for the figures are TIF, JPEG. The figures, created using software for mathematical and statistical calculations should be transfered to one of these formats.

Only illustartions of high quality are acceptable for publishing.Cutlines and symbols should be printed. Image resolution 300 dpi should be provided when scanning. The priority is to send the original illustrations. Small illustrations can be placed in the text.

Photographs should be submitted as original contrasting prints. Magnification and a method of painting material should be noted in the cutlines to micrographs. The negatives and slides can’t be printed.

Tables should be presented on the separate pages. Tables should have short headings and own numeration. Reproduction of the same material both in tables and figures is not allowed.

Diagrams, graphs are desirable to create in Місгоsoft Ехсеl.

Cutlines to figures and tables should be typed in the manuscript after the references on a separate page.

Broaden annotation to the article should be presented in two languages (e.g., if the main text of the article is in Ukrainian than two broaden annotation should be presented in Russian and English); size – up to 1 page; it should contain: (а) title of the article, (b) names and initials of the authors, (c) e-mails of the authors, (d) full name of the institution, (e) abstract of the article up to 400 words, (f) key words.

Besides, broaden English summary up to 2 pages should be sent as a separate electronic file. Its structure should completely suit the structure of the article with all its elements (for placing on the journal’s website).

Information about the authors should be given on a separate sheet and contained the following data about every author: name, surname, scientific degree, academic status, place of work, position, office address, telephone, fax and e-mail. Name of the author with whom correspondence will be conducted should be underlined.
