MODEL FOR MONITORING THE MENTAL HEALTH OF HEALTH CARE MANAGERS

Abstract

Objective – to describe a model for monitoring the mental health of health care managers, which allows them to assess the mental health of health care managers to ensure timely identification of risks and create conditions for their minimisation, supporting the professional functioning of health care managers. Material and methods. The study was based on the scientific literature and the results of a sociological survey of healthcare managers. The following methods were used: a systematic approach, bibliosemantic analysis, sociological method, conceptual modelling, and statistical analysis methods. Results. The study developed a conceptual model for monitoring the mental health of healthcare managers, which is based on integrating quantitative and qualitative assessment methods, preventive measures and technological solutions for an effective monitoring system. The analysis of scientific literature and existing models has revealed the need for a systematic approach that considers the specifics of management activities in the healthcare field and the high sensitivity of managers to stress factors. The model is based on standardised psychometric instruments, in particular, The Mental Health Quality of Life Questionnaire MHQoL-7D scale for assessing mental health and quality of life, as well as The Mental Health Determinants Questionnaire MHDQ for identifying and evaluating the level of influence of individual determinants on mental health. Additionally, qualitative methods such as in-depth interviews and focus groups were used to determine subjective experiences and sources of stress. Considerable attention was paid to technological solutions that automate data collection, analysis, and interpretation. The development of preventive measures within the model focuses on preventing problems with psychosocial well-being through implementing emotional resilience training, stress management programs, mindfulness practices, and awareness-raising campaigns. The involvement of different levels of management – from national coordination structures to local implementers – ensures the model’s effective implementation. Conclusions. The proposed model for monitoring the mental health of healthcare managers is an effective tool for preventing burnout and improving the efficiency of healthcare managers. Scaling up the model to the national healthcare policy level is recommended to achieve sustainable positive results.
