Abstract

Purpose: to research and analyze the causes of sleep disorders in women during the period of changing biological life cycles. Materials and Methods. The study conducted a literature review and factors that influence women’s sleep disorders during the menopausal transition were analyzed. An important aspect of this period is ensuring quality sleep and sufficient sleep to maintain optimal health and well-being. Results. It has been established that one of the main symptoms during the period of age-related hormonal changes in a woman’s body is sleep disturbance. Symptoms of sleep disorders that women complain about at this time include difficulty falling asleep, frequent waking up in the middle of the night, shallow sleep, and early morning awakenings, which lead to poor sleep quality and reduced sleep duration. Among the important causes of sleep disturbances are factors directly related to menopause, such as hormonal changes in the reproductive system, vasomotor symptoms, and the activity of the orexin neurotransmitter system. Conclusions. The onset of menopause is accompanied by physiological changes in various systems and organs due to the decline and cessation of ovarian function. One of the consequences of this process is sleep disorders, which should not be underestimated in menopausal women. Therefore, maintaining healthy sleep during this period is extremely important. For effective sleep, good general health, health maintenance, and quality of life, it is necessary to use effective therapeutic approaches to improve it.
