Purpose: to study dynamics of indicators of prevalence and morbidity of the population of Ukraine due tohypertension in regional aspect during 1996–2014 and to forecast their changes in 2025.
Materials and methods. As research materials, we used the data of the Center of Health Statistics of the Ministry
of Health of Ukraine on the level of primary incidence and prevalence for hypertension among the population of
Ukraine. In our work, epidemiological, demographic, statistical methods of research are used.
Results. Using the method of demographic division, we estimated changes in prevalence and incidence of
hypertension in Ukraine and its separate regions for 1996–2014. We predicted the tendency of further growth in
hypertension both in Ukraine and in some of its regions.
Conclusions. Over the last 18 years in Ukraine prevalence and morbidity for hypertension has increased
significantly – 2.3 times and 1.9 times respectively. These indicators have changed the most in the Southern region
of Ukraine. Projected figures on prevalence and incidence for hypertension indicate the tendency of their growth,
especially in the Southeast region.
