POSITIVE DYNAMICS HOSPITAL MORTALITY PATIENTS WITH SCHIZOPHRENIA: ORGANIZATIONAL AND CLINICAL ASPECTS

Purpose: to establish dynamics of mortality in patients with schizophrenia for the 25-years period (1989-2013) in Dnipropetrovsk clinical psychiatric hospital; to reveal factors that affect the rate of hospital mortality in these patients.
Materials and methods. Retrospective the continuous method investigates 84 medical cards of inpatient for 1989-1990 (I period) and 52 medical cards of inpatient for 2011-2013 (II period) schizophrenic patients died in the hospital during this period. In work methods of dynamic and correlation analysis were used.
Results. It is established wave-like dynamics of hospital mortality in patients with schizophrenia. The highest rate of hospital mortality was in 1996 (3.18% per 100 left patients) and the lowest - in 2012 (0.53%). The main cause of death was cardiovascular pathology, malignant neoplasm, tuberculosis, diseases of the digestive organs, pneumonia, traumas. Also found the lack of comprehensive care and continuity in the treatment of patients in outpatient conditions in I period of supervision.
Conclusions. The most effective is comprehensive polyprofessional service of patients on an outpatient basis at joint participation of psychiatrist and doctors of somatic medicine.
