AVERAGE LIFE EXPECTANCY AS CRITERION OF MEDICAL AND DEMOGRAPHIC SITUATION IN UKRAINE

Purpose: Revealing of development criteria and changes tendencies of average life expectancy for five years (2008-2012).
Materials and methods. The survey is lead on the basis of the State Statistics Service of mortality and average life expectancy by gender, type of settlement, region for 2008-2012. Demographic and statistical methods were applied.
Results. In 2008-2012 years there was a growth of average life expectancy both at men and at women, both in city and in countryside – for 3.83 years at men and 2.09 years at women. The increase in average life expectancy has mainly been connected to positive dynamics of mortality from cardiovascular diseases and external causes.
Conclusions. Significant territorial distinctions in average life expectancy are inherent in Ukraine. The best parameters are observed in the western regions, the worse – in the east, the difference reaches three years at men and two at women.
