Abstract

Purpose: to assess the quality of life and social activity of women of climacteric age under conditions of uncertainty by conducting a survey and implementing health education activities among the population. Materials and Methods. To assess the quality of life and social activity of post-reproductive-age women in the current context, we applied the Greene Climacteric Scale and the Kupperman Menopausal Index. The survey was conducted anonymously using a Google Form among 150 women in the perimenopausal period. The following research methods were employed: sociological, statistical, and systems analysis. Results. The mean age of respondents was 58 ± 2.5 years, with the onset of menopause reported at 50 ± 1.33 years. It was found that 72% of respondents were employed in governmental institutions, while 28% were either unemployed or retired. Regarding place of residence, 67% lived in rural areas and 33% in urban areas. Cardiovascular disorders, specifically arterial hypertension, were present in 40% of participants. Endocrine system disorders included type 2 diabetes mellitus in 7% and thyroid diseases in 13% of respondents. A positive family history of climacteric syndrome was observed in 10% of women. According to the Greene Climacteric Scale, 55% of respondents exhibited signs of anxiety or depression. Analysis using the Kupperman Menopausal Index revealed that 66% of participants experienced mild climacteric symptoms, whereas 15% presented with moderate symptoms. Conclusions. The study demonstrates that women of climacteric age experience a range of mild to moderate symptoms affecting both their physical and psychological well-being. Anxiety and depressive symptoms were reported by more than half of the respondents, highlighting the significant impact of the climacteric period on mental health. Cardiovascular and endocrine disorders were prevalent among participants, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive health monitoring in this population.
