Abstract

Purpose: to assess the possibility of using first aid as an auxiliary tool in the rehabilitation of people with physical disabilities. Materials and Methods. The total sample of the study subjects was 96 people, including 20 women and 76 men aged 21 to 76 years. Among them, 59 people (61%) are military and 37 people (39%) are civilians. All of them are clients (patients) of rehabilitation centers operating in Ukraine. The study has been conducted since 2023. In order to record the results of work with students with physical disabilities, questionnaires and questionnaires were created for students and instructors. The results obtained with their help were processed quantitatively and qualitatively. Results. The largest percentage of respondents (67%) received disability as a result of hostilities, 28% – as a result of diseases and 5% – due to an accident. Of the entire sample of respondents, 83% indicated that they know about first aid and have some knowledge. At the same time, 78% of respondents witnessed emergency situations where people needed first aid. Of all respondents, 65% indicated that they provided first aid. Conclusions. According to the results of the study, the majority of people with disabilities demonstrate a high level of interest in learning first aid, regardless of the presence of knowledge in this area. The experience of experiencing combat operations and accidents can affect the understanding of the scope of application of the acquired skills. An important factor in successful adaptation will be being in a group of people with high social activity and motivation. The ability to take responsibility in crisis situations indicates the potential for self-realization and readaptation to life in society, which will affect the positive dynamics in the rehabilitation of people with physical disabilities.
