Abstract

Objective. To substantiate the epidemiological component of the current state and trends in the spread of urogenital diseases with the aim of identifying and refining approaches to improving the quality of medical care, including for patients with urogenital pathologies. Materials and Methods. A retrospective analysis of hospital morbidity and disability rates due to urogenital diseases among the population of Ukraine was conducted for the period from 2014 to 2023. Statistical data from the State Statistics Service and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine were used. The methods of a systematic approach, structural and logical, and medical and statistical analyses were used in the study. Results and Discussion. Over the 10-year period analyzed (2014–2023), the absolute indicators and morbidity rates of urogenital diseases in Ukraine and the vast majority of its regions tended to decrease from 2016 to 2020, followed by a gradual increase from 2021 to 2023. A sharp decline in hospitalizations (by more than 30%) due to urogenital diseases in 2020 across all regions of Ukraine can be attributed to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The indicators of primary disability caused by urogenital diseases among the population of Ukraine tended to decrease in 2014–2017 and 2019–2020, while an upward trend was observed in 2018 and 2021–2023. At the same time, the disability rate in 2023 was twice as high as the corresponding level in 2014. Conclusions. The results of the epidemiological analysis of urogenital diseases can, in our opinion, be used to improve the quality of urological care. With the preserved capacity of healthcare facilities, competition for patients is increasing, and one of the decisive factors in this competition is likely to be an improvement in the quality of medical care and patient satisfaction.
