Abstract

Purpose: to study the level of situational and personal anxiety in students of higher education at the medical faculty, to develop recommendations for the correction of these disorders. Materials and methods. The study included 60 students of higher education at the Ivan Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Among all respondents, there were 38 (63.3%) girls and 22 (36.7%) boys. To determine reactive and personal anxiety, the Spielberg test was used. Results. During the COVID-19 quarantine and the transition to distance learning, a moderate level of personal anxiety prevailed among students. High levels of situational anxiety were associated with the pandemic, a change in the form of learning, increased psychological stress, and decreased physical activity. After the lifting of quarantine restrictions and the transition to a classroom form of learning, a high level of personal anxiety decreased in all students. This is due to the fact that most respondents had COVID-19 or had contact with people who had the disease, and this affected their quality of life. At the beginning of russian’s military aggression, a high level of personal anxiety increased significantly among all study participants, with a predominance among men. Moderate and high levels of situational anxiety prevailed, as students felt nervousness, anxiety, and uncertainty about the future. Most of the study participants were able to adapt to the realities of today, so moderate indicators of situational anxiety prevailed in both gender groups. Conclusions. The increase in the level of situational anxiety in students is due to the beginning of the pandemic and war, a change in the form of education, a deterioration in the psycho-emotional state, a crisis situation, uncertainty about their future. After the lifting of quarantine restrictions and a long period of martial law, most of the study participants activated their personal resources, were able to master self-regulation techniques and improve psychosomatic health.
