Purpose: to study the presence of emotional burnout among volunteers (on the example of the Rivne region).
Materials and Methods. To study the emotional state and level of burnout among volunteers, we conducted a survey among volunteers of the Rivne region. A standardized J. Gibson questionnaire was used, which was adapted to study the potential for burnout among volunteers. Research methods: statistical method, survey.
Results. A survey of 97 volunteers at the regional level was conducted. A significant part of volunteers, 68.0 %, started supporting the armed forces of Ukraine and internally displaced persons since the beginning of the war and continued until the time of the survey, 16.5 % joined the volunteer movement within 1 year, 6.2 % within 6 months, and 9.3 % – within 2 months.
It was found that emotional burnout is a problem that is widespread among volunteers in Ukraine during military operations. It was established that the duration of participation in volunteer activities up to 1 year and the time spent on volunteering up to 10 hours, age up to 30 years, lack of support from family and close people affect the development of depersonalization. Personal satisfaction is significantly reduced by involvement in volunteer activities since the beginning of the war, time spent volunteering for more than 25 hours, higher education, living in rural areas, and the age range of 30–49 years. The duration of participation in volunteer activities up to 1 year, age up to 30 years, and partial support from family and loved ones have a significant influence on the occurrence of emotional exhaustion. Full support from family and loved ones reduces the manifestations of all components of emotional burnout.
Conclusions. Emotional burnout was detected in all volunteers: the level of depersonalization was high and amounted to 6.6 points (average level was observed in 42.3 %, high level – in 57.7 % of interviewed participants); personal satisfaction was low and amounted to 28.8 points (5.8 times higher than the low level threshold); emotional exhaustion was also high – 18.3 points (exceeding the threshold by 3.7 times).
