Abstract

Purpose: to analyze the psycho-emotional state and risk factors of non-infectious diseases in combatants.

Materials and Methods. A survey was conducted among 155 combatants who were treated at the Ternopil Regional Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital, TOR. The survey method and the statistical method were used.

Results. As a result of the research, we found the influence of the level of education and the path of conscription for military service when studying adaptation possibilities to traumatic events (Mississippi scale), the place of residence when studying anxiety (HAD scale) and the path of conscription for military service and non-use of sedatives when studying depression ( HAD scale).

Among the volunteers, the presence of a higher education prevails, the longest period of participation in hostilities compared to the conscripts of the TCC and JV, as well as a high proportion of tobacco smoking, alcohol consumption, elevated blood pressure. The state of psychological health is characterized by a higher level of adaptation to traumatic events and the presence of normal indicators in volunteers when determining anxiety and depression according to the HAD scale compared to the group of military personnel and conscripts through the TCC and JV, which indicates their motivation. However, despite this situation, a large part of the volunteers had disorders of adaptation to traumatic events with suspicion of PTSD, signs of anxiety and depression.

Among the military conscripts of the TCC and JV, secondary education prevails as well as, a high proportion of tobacco smoking, alcohol consumption, elevated blood pressure, almost half of them sometimes use sedatives. They have a predominance of adjustment disorders and suspicion of PTSD, high levels of anxiety and depression with lower than normal values of anxiety and depression and borderline states compared to regular military personnel.

Conclusion. A “portrait” of military personnel was formed regarding the existing risk factors for the development of non-infectious diseases and the state of psychological health depending on the path of conscription for military service.
