Abstract

Purpose: to analyze the current literature and summarize the latest national and international achievements on patient safety as a global health priority and patient safety quality indicators.

Materials and Methods. The scientific sources of information (electronic database PubMed) on patient safety were analyzed using bibliosemantic and analytical methods.

Results. The results of the study confirmed that the problem of ensuring patient safety and medical care is one of the most discussed in the scientific medical and legal community. Each component of the medical care process contains elements of danger and threat.

Patient safety indicators are specific measures or assessments that are used to determine and monitor the level of safety in healthcare delivery. They indicate the quality and effectiveness of systems and processes in healthcare facilities to protect patients from possible risks and avoid treatment errors. These indicators are used to continuously improve healthcare systems, reduce risks and ensure the highest level of patient safety.

Preventing medical errors and imperfections in medical practice is an important task that requires coordinated action by all participants in the healthcare system.

Conclusions. Patient safety is an integral part of the public health system, and it requires continuous improvement and enhancement. Implementing strategies for preventing medical errors, developing effective communication between medical staff and patients, implementing modern technologies, and continuously training medical professionals are key ways to ensure safe and reliable healthcare.
