Abstract

Purpose: to determine the state of anxiety, well-being, activity and mood of students who have contracted the coronavirus disease.

Materials and Methods. Testing was conducted on 100 students aged 18–20 who contracted the coronavirus disease in two stages: one week after the illness and one month later. Anxiety (personal and situational) was examined using the Spielberger-Hanin anxiety scale (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory – STAI). We determined well-being, activity and mood using the test method of self-assessment of functional state “SAN” (V.A. Doskina and others).

Results. The positive dynamics of the reduction in the level of situational and personal anxiety, as well as the restoration of well-being, activity and mood in persons who have contracted the coronavirus disease, have been noted. In the examinees immediately after the illness, the situational anxiety was (44.48±1.93) points, a month later – (33.16±1.29) points, and the personal anxiety immediately after the illness was (45.88±1.73 ) points, after a month – (34.0±1.55) points.

The dependence of well-being, activity and mood on the level of anxiety in persons who have contracted the coronavirus disease has been established.

The study of this problem will make it possible to predict the restoration of health and professional success in conditions of increased stress factors, to outline the ways of adaptation and rehabilitation of persons who have contracted the coronavirus disease in these conditions.

Conclusions. The positive dynamics of the reduction in the level of situational and personal anxiety, as well as the restoration of well-being, activity and mood in persons who have contracted the coronavirus disease, have been noted. In the examinees immediately after the illness, the situational anxiety was (44.48±1.93) points, a month later – (33.16±1.29) points, and the personal anxiety immediately after the illness was (45.88±1.73) points, after a month – (34.0±1.55) points. There was a significant improvement in the level of well-being (medium positive correlations (R=0.491796)), activity (high positive correlations (R=0.5077)) and mood (high positive correlations (R=0.6262) ) in those examined a month after the illness, compared to those examined immediately after the illness. The dependence of well-being, activity and mood on the level of anxiety in persons who have contracted the coronavirus disease has been established.
