Abstract

Purpose: to study the opinion of doctors regarding the organization of the work of the radiodiagnostic service in emergency situations.

Materials and Methods. An expert survey of 42 practicing radiologists of Lviv, who expressed their opinion about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the introduction of martial law in Ukraine on the quality of radiodiagnostic services in health care institutions, was conducted.

Results. According to the survey of physicians, it was established that the majority of the surveyed doctors ((64.29±7.39) %) noted the improvement of the quality and possibilities of providing medical care during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine, (28.57±6.97) % of specialists indicated an unchanged level of providing medical care, (7.14±3.97) % of respondents did not pay attention to it. At the same time, only (38.10±7.49) % of specialists pointed to an improvement in the quality of radiodiagnostics with the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, about half of the surveyed doctors ((47.62±7.71) %) and (14.29±5.40) % of respondents noted a deterioration in quality.

Among the work problems encountered by radiologists until February 24, 2022, the most common were the failure of a patient to come for an examination despite having an appointment ((28.57±6.97) %), overtime work, and the refusal of a patient to be examined for financial or psychological reasons ((21.43±6.33) % of radiologists). In contrast, the most frequent problems, the prevalence of which increased during martial law, were power outages ((66.67±7.27) %; p<0.05) and anxiety about blackouts or air alarms during the examination ((59.52±7.57) %; p<0.05).

Conclusions. The opinion of practicing radiologists is important when taking into account the measures to improve the work of the radiodiagnostic services. A number of identified problems in the work of the radiodiagnostics services can be solved organizationally without additional funding.
